I have been a little cranky and on edge today as I have been bombarded with more work than I can possibly handle. I know that I cannot do it all, but there is a weight that I am carrying that I have to do it all (a lie). I CAN say no and they will have to make do, but I am a people pleaser at heart and I really want to be able to get everything done. I love my job, but more than ever right now, I want to be with my family, loving on my new niece, hanging out with my nephew and sister in law. But, alas, I have work to be done.
As I was reflecting on my crankiness and knowing that I need to go home and rest, this song came on. It truly spoke to me. The moments when I don't "feel" loved or appreciated, I know God cares and "SEES" everything I do. What a beautiful thing. He sees where my heart is tugging right now, where the stresses are in my life and the thoughts that are consuming me every moment. But most of all, I am dearly loved by Him...the one who created me! What a beautiful thing.
I have included the lyrics at the bottom because they are worth reading!
Lyrics to Dearly Loved by Jimmy Needham
(Matthew 11:28)
Please lay down your arrows
For they're sure to pierce the skin
And water from a broken well
Will make you thirst again
When all things you've acquired
Are tested by the flames
And you can see them melting
Then will you call his name
It's worth it brothers
It's worth it friends
To know your maker
To lose your sin
Did you know that you are dearly loved
To the slaughters you are being led
Being told that it's a party
That this God is in your head
And every single lie
Sounds just like the greatest truth
But the one truth you're not hearing
Is that he died for you
No greater joy
No greater peace
No greater love than this
It's worth it brothers
It's worth it friends
To know your maker
To lose your sin
Did you know that you are dearly loved
Please lay down your arrows
For they're sure to pierce the skin
And water from a broken well
Will make you thirst again
When all things you've acquired
Are tested by the flames
And you can see them melting
Then will you call his name
It's worth it brothers
It's worth it friends
To know your maker
To lose your sin
Did you know that you are dearly loved
To the slaughters you are being led
Being told that it's a party
That this God is in your head
And every single lie
Sounds just like the greatest truth
But the one truth you're not hearing
Is that he died for you
No greater joy
No greater peace
No greater love than this
It's worth it brothers
It's worth it friends
To know your maker
To lose your sin
Did you know that you are dearly loved
